The Guardianship laws require that Courts consider whether there is a way to accomplish protection for a proposed ward that is less restrictive than granting a guardian the power to make decisions for them and over them. The Court must evaluate all reasonably available alternatives to taking away the civil and personal rights and powers of a ward before a Guardianship order can be entered.
